Able to ping but cannot browse in Windows


If the PC, Laptop or Server has ever worked before then it will be easier to troubleshoot.

Since it has worked before, what are the changes done to the machine?

If there are quite a few changes done to the machine, undo or remove all the changes done.

After removing or undoing all the changes, check whether web page will load or not.

If still not working, try "resetting" the browser settings.

For IE or Internet Explorer, go to "Tools", click "Internet options", click "Advanced" tab and click on "Reset" button.

Close the browser and open again, check whether the page will load or not.

If still not loading, open an elevated command prompt and do the following one by one:

   ipconfig /flushdns



   ipconfig /release



   netsh winsock reset



   shutdown -r -f -t 10 (note this will reboot the machine)

After rebooting, login to the machine and check whether the problem is solved and able to browse the web normally.

If still not working scan for any viruses or malware.

Or ask a friend who knows about IT stuff; don't download any software if you're not familiar with IT.

Downloading illicit software to fix the issue might introduce more problems.

The world wide web, www or in a layman term will not be as popular as today if not  of  DNS or the Domain Name System.

If the network or the computers are having issues accessing websites, it would be wise to check DNS services or settings. 

After doing the steps above and still not working then it's time to continue searching answers on the web but try the simplest one first.

WMIC get computer model, manufacturer, computer name and  username. WMIC is a command-line tool and that can generate information about computer model, its manufacturer, its username and other informations depending on the parameters provided. Checking Windows office version whether it is Office 2010, Office, 2013, Office 2016 or other version is quite important to check compatibility of documents; or just a part of software inventory.
